'The Avengers' - May 4, 2012

How could one not be excited for this film, every amazing super hero (minus Batman) teaming up together in one film, and this filmed is poised for some serious box office sucess. Throw in the creative and amazing Joss Wheldon helming the movie, and I think we could be for a real treat come Summer 2012. After just seeing Thor, and the post-credit 3 minute clip that is a lead up to this film, I can't wait for this film to braze screens across the globe. It's got everything you want in a film, a star studded cast, mystical and powerful super heros, beautiful woman, as well as blockbuster special effects and action for the whole family. Wheldon's creativity and penmanship should also give way to an amazing screnlpay with plenty of great dialogue and a hint of comedic humor for the audience. The Avengers is currently in production, set for a May 4, 2012 release.

'The Dark Knight Rises' - July 20, 2012

Well this one is a given and anyone who knows anything about Batman will have a hard time arguing that Christopher Nolan is pretty much a god when it comes to these films. The director has completley rehauled the Batman franchise and has made the most truthful and realistic franchise the comic book has ever endured. Nolan's final instalment will hit theaters in 2012, and being his last film (he says) of his take on the caped crusader we can only imagine how epic it will most likely be. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Nestor Carbonell, and even Katie Holmes will be reprising their roles in the film. Though that is good news, the new additions to the film make this film even more anctipating and exciting. Inception Co-stars Tom Hardy (Bane) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (role still unknown) will add to an already impressive cast that also includes Juno Temple, Anne Hathaway (Selina Kyle/Catwoman) as well as another Inception cast memeber in Academy Award Winner Marion Cotillard. Though Nolan has thrown some surprises past us such as the casting of Catwoman and the unexpectede Bane, I will reiterate myself when I say, In Nolan We Trust. Though fans make think of these casting as cheesey we all know that Nolan's take on them will be a far more gritter, realistic one than Joel Schuamcher's pathetic attempt in the 1990's. Gary Oldman said in a recent interview that he thought The Dark Knight couldn't be upped, and according to him after reading the screnplay he felt that this film was going to be even better. Production on the film is set for Pittsburgh this summer with a release date on July 20, 2012.

'The Fighter': December 10, 2010

Director David O. Russell (Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees) is at it once again with his next film entitled, The Fighter. The movie, tells the story of Irish boxer Mickey Ward (Mark Whalberg) and his rise to welter weight champion status with the help of his boxer-turned-trainer brother, Dickie Eklund (Bale). The film delves into the lives of both these men's rocky lives both in and out of the ring, touching on issues such as crime, drugs, and utter perseverance from a questionable boxer. Both Bale and Whalberg prepared mentally and physically for this role, as both men lost and put on weight for their respective characters. The Fighter, currently doing some re shoots for it's December release date, also stars Academy Award Nominees, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. With a star studded cast, including two amazing male leads that bring intensity on screen to every role, look for David O. Russell's project to have plenty of potential for success.

'True Grit' : December 25, 2010

(Above: John Wayne as Marshall Reuben J. Cogburn in the 1969 Original, Wayne would go on to win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in the film)

Academy Award-Winners Ethan & Joel Coen are it again, this time with their remake of the 1969 western film, True Grit. The film, starring Academy Award-Winner Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, follows the story of a young and stubborn girl on the hunt for her father's murderer. The lead female, played by Hailee Steinfeld, teams up with the meanest and toughest Marshall Cogburn (Bridges) and a Texas Ranger (Damon), in order to being justice to the one who took her father's life. This film reunites Bridges with the Coen brothers for the first time since their 1998 "cult classic", The Big Lebowski. That film arguably made Bridges that Oscar winner he is today, and his role in True Grit should only further the actor's credentials. The project, currently in its post-production phase, was filmed in Texas and is set to be released just before Christmas. Yesterday TFK brought the first images of the film, which means that the trailer shouldn't be too far down the road. If you love the Coen brother films as much as I do, then there is no question that you should be lining up to see this film, come December 25th.

Preview: 'The Green Hornet'

Director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) is dipping into the superhero world with his latest instalment, The Green Hornet. Based on the popular radio and television character, the film will follow the story of newspaper publisher Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), as a masked vigilante by night, fighting crime with his martial arts partner Kato (Jay Chou). Arguably the most exciting thing about this film is that Christopher Waltz, fresh off his Oscar nod for Inglorious Basterds, will star as the movie's villian Chudnofsky (That's a bingo!). Also included in the cast is Britt's love interest, Cameron Diaz as well as Edward Furlong and Tom Wilkinson. With the film in it's post-production stage and January 14, 2011 release date (now that's it's being transfered to 3D), look for this film to be an instant hit right from the beginning.
